2017 Bike Week Schedule :


Bike Week First Friday at the Museum of Art & History (5pm to 9pm): Join us for a special Bike Week First Friday at the MAH (Museum of Art & History), the kick-off celebration to Bike Week hosted by Ecology Action and Bike Santa Cruz County! Bike Night is a family-friendly, inclusive experience for community members to celebrate biking in Santa Cruz. The theme of this year’s event is… the environment! So, come on down to participate in a variety of environmentally-focused art, craft and playful activities, including:

  • Bicycle Wheel Looms
  • A giant, recycled tube ball in-the-making
  • Screen printing
  • Recycled Bag Streamers
  • Bike Part Spirographs
  • Bike Wheel Mobiles
  • And more!

Additional Highlights Include:

  • Bike Trial Stunt Shows by local legend Matt Meyer (5:15PM, 6:45PM, and 8:15PM)
  • A Captain Planet and the Planeteers-Themed Community Ride (for all ages) (7PM)
    • Awards will be given for the best costumes!
  • Live Music by Dan P and the Bricks: A 10-piece, local ska band including a 5-piece horn section, two guitars, organ, bass and drums!
  • Bike Powered Margaritas!

Come on down for a fun, engaging evening celebration of all things BIKE. Bring your wheels so you can participate in all the fun activities. Bike Valet will be provided on Cooper Street.

Bicycle Trip’s 24th Annual Bike Fest (12pm to 4pm): Once a year, Bicycle Trip hosts all cyclists for a bash at the shop on Soquel Avenue. This year, our party is a kick-off event for Bike To Work Santa Cruz. It’s a time when young and old, roadies and mountain bikers, recreational riders and racer-types come together to celebrate riding and having fun on two wheels in Santa Cruz. Indulge in BBQ, get your mind blown by our multiple bike stunt shows, demo your dream eBike, browse the neat cycles and bits in our vendor village, partake in numerous kids activities and reap the rich bounty of our famous, free raffle and prize wheel!”

Girls Rock Mountain Bike Ride (9am): Hosted by Bicycle Trip, this fun ladies mountain bike ride is a great opportunity to make new friends and get out on some of the best trails in Santa Cruz. The ride is open to all skill levels and ride leaders ride at your pace and comfort level. Meet at the Bicycle Trip on Soquel Avenue. Westside Trail Mixer: Connect the Arts to the Trail. Learn, Share, Create, Inspire (1pm – 3pm) Come meet us on the rail trail corridor between Fair Avenue (New Leaf Markef) and Swift Street (Kelly’s French Bakery) for a community art party to welcome the trail. The Westside trail is coming soon and the City of Santa Cruz Arts Commission is still gathering inspiration and ideas for art projects along the Coastal Rail Trail. Bring an object of inspiration that shows us what you love about the trail, your neighborhood or Santa Cruz. We’ll be documenting these objects in a fun photo booth to capture inspiration for future art projects. Draw your own project, share your poetic ramblings and help us envision a colorful, fun Westside Rail Trail. Participate for the chance to win an Electric Bike! 


Activate the River Ride with Patagonia (5:30pm): Meet at the Patagonia store on River Street for some delicious Patagonia Provisions and store coupons. After a short gathering, we’ll take short community bike ride, co-lead by Greg Pepping from the Coastal Watershed Council, along the San Lorenzo River Pathway to learn about the Riverwalk Engagement Plan and all the exciting happenings along the river way. The ride will end at the beautiful Solaire Restaurant + Bar, where cyclists can participate in a cyclists-only Happy Hour special.

Sip and Savor at Solaire, Hotel Paradox (4pm – close): Pedal on over to the Hotel Paradox and Solaire Restaurant + Bar to participate in a mini-getaway to the hidden destination at the center of it all. Let the stress of your busy week melt away in the lounge, poolside cabanas, or indoor/outdoor bar. Show your bicycle helmet to receive 15% off all food & beverage (including beer, wine, spirits). Enjoy the sunset before you cycle back to reality.


Cycle & Dine: Ecology Action has partnered with a number of restaurants throughout Santa Cruz County to provide all you wonderful cyclists with discounts on your meal. Be ready to show your helmet to your server upon arrival and ask for the ‘Cycle & Dine’ discount!


Beer Thirty Bottle Shop & Pour House ~ New Belgium Brewing and Bikes Night! (5pm-10pm): Ride over to the outdoor patio at Beer Thirty for an entertaining evening of movies, beer, and dinner! New Belgium will be pouring 10 beers alongside their independent short movie series Clips of Faith. Bike To Work/School Day (6:30am-9:30am): Visit our Breakfast Site page for a complete list of our 13 public breakfast sites across Santa Cruz County and our 45+ participating school sites. Cyclists will be able to receive a free breakfast, free bike maintenance, raffle prizes and more! Participate for the chance to win an Electric Bike! 


Bike Party Group Ride (6-9pm): Jump on your bikes for a green-themed Bike Party Ride organized by  Santa Cruz Bike Party and Bike Santa Cruz County. Santa Cruz Bike Party is a mobile party for riders of all ages, experience levels, and types to meet, ride, and play together in the streets. Riders are encouraged to wear green costumes or decorate their bike to fit the theme. Before we ride, join Bookshop Santa Cruz and Santa Cruz Indivisible for a postcard writing campaign for climate change. Bike Party will represent the final celebration of Bike Week. In addition to celebrating bike culture here in Santa Cruz, we hope to inspire others to join the movement.
