Senior Program Specialist – Sustainable Transportation

Elise joined Ecology Action in 2013 after completing her Master of Education in Environmental Education and a Certificate in Non-Profit Administration from Western Washington University. As an experienced environmental educator, group facilitator, and grant writer Elise works across programs on implementation and program development. She is a regular bike commuter, cycle tourist, and loves to hike in high places.

Emily Gomez 

Program Specialist – Sustainable Transportation
Emily joined the Ecology Action team in 2012 after working for many years at Save Our Shores, a local marine conservation non-profit. She’s been focused on building community engagement across all programs through implementing dynamic outreach strategies. Emily loves managing the Bike To Work program and encouraging youth and adults to live active lives for themselves and the environment. She has a passion for environmental stewardship and strives to use her skills in program management and community engagement to work towards improved societal and environmental outcomes. When she’s not in the office you’ll most likely find her soaking up the sun at the beach, hiking, making art and volunteering for other awesome environmental non-profits in town.

Kira Ticus 

Program Specialist – Sustainable Transportation
Kira has been working in the sustainable transportation field since graduating from UCSC in 2009 with a degree in Environmental Studies. Her passion for environmental education and action began at a young age, when traveling the world with her family. With inspiration from the oceans, rain forests, deserts and more, she’d dedicated her life to making the world a better place. Through her work at Ecology Action, she is excited to blend her love for the environment with her love for this beautiful coastal community. She enjoys long runs, days in the sun and spending time with her dog (and fiance) at the beach.

Diana Maravilla 

Program Coordinator – Sustainable Transportation
As a bilingual coordinator, Diana has been working on a number of our Safe Routes to School programs, including Bike Smart, Walk Smart, Monthly Bike/Walk to School Days, and Active4Me. Diana has an extensive background in local school systems, where she served as a high school Spanish Teacher, school administrator, and as a program leader for Girls, Inc. Diana is passionate about advocacy and health equity and is currently pursuing her Masters of Public Health at San Jose State Diana is also a League of American Bicyclists Certified Instructor and she enjoys the time spent teaching and fostering children’s interest in cycling. On her time off she can be found dutifully studying or pumping weights at the local gym.

Chandra Rapley 

Youth Educator and Program Assistant
Chandra joined the Ecology Action team in February 2017 and has worked as a bilingual lead educator for both Bike Smart and Walk Smart, as well as promoting Safe Routes to School at a number of community events. She has extensive experience in both the education and nonprofit fields, previously working as an elementary English teacher and a graduate-level Spanish teacher, as well as serving as an Americorps VISTA volunteer coordinator at United Way and shelter worker at the Homeless Services Center. Chandra has a BA in Sociology and is currently pursuing a Masters in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering for a variety of community organizations, backpacking in the wilderness, and playing harmonica.
